Overview

The Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) provides an excellent platform at an introductory level, to help staff understand the fundamentals of Islamic banking and finance. The course provides a stepping stone, for those who are interested in Islamic finance, to familiarise themselves with the basic concepts and structures that are generally used by Islamic banks and financial institutions.

  • Shariah compliance
  • Knowledge of general principles of Shariah and their application to banking & finance
  • Financial Contracts in Islamic finance
  • Islamic Asset Management, Sukuk (Bond) market and Takaful (Islamic Insurance)
  • Corporate governance in Islamic finance

Learning outcomes

The course will allow attendees to gain a good understanding of Islamic finance concepts and structures and prepare them to pass the CISI IFQ Level 3 exam.

Materials

Students need to purchase their own copy of the CISI IFQ Level 3 workbook for exams: 01 June 2022 - 31 May 2024 Version 10.0 from the CISI website for £94 in advance of the course. 

Assessment

Mustafa Muchhala

Islamic Finance has been of interest to Mustafa since 2008 when he achieved the Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) certificate from the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (CISI). Since achieving the qualification he has been teaching the exam preparation course at BPP. He has also developed a one day course called ‘An Introduction to Islamic Finance’ for those wanting to understand the basic principles and contracts but not sit the CISI exam.

Mustafa is a highly motivated freelance trainer specialising in Management Accounting, Financial Management and Strategy in conventional and Islamic Finance markets.

Having worked at BPP Professional Education for over 20 years, he is now a visiting faculty at various universities and colleges training on undergraduate, postgraduate and Masters programmes including an International MBA programme.
