SPEAKER:

Charles Clarke, Chairman of Thomas & Dessain

Charles is a Chartered Accountant, serial independent Non-Executive Director and Corporate Governance Consultant. After some 30 years with KPMG in London, Malaysia and Jersey, Charles retired as a Senior Partner of KPMG Channel Islands in 2005. Since then he has held Board appointments at a number of listed, regulated and public interest companies in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK. His current appointments include chairing the Boards of Thomas & Dessain, Ports of Jersey and the Aberdeen Asian Income Fund. As part of his role with Thomas & Dessain, Charles runs a database of offshore-resident independent NED candidates and operates a bespoke matching service with companies seeking to appoint such people. Charles also conducts reviews of Board composition, remuneration and effectiveness.
